The Gisela Cook-Schmidt Memorial Trophy

Gisela Cook-Schmidt was the first breeder of Azawakhs in the United States.
She was instrumental in the founding of the American Azawakh Association in 1989
and served as an Officer and Board of Directors until her death in 2004.
Under the kennel name of Reckendahl, she bred five litters of Azawakhs and many litters of Salukis
during her lifetime. Gisela's Azawakhs figure prominently in most of the bloodlines
of present day Azawakhs both in the US and abroad.

The Gisela trophy is awarded to the Best of Breed winner at the
American Azawakh Association's Specialty show.
